The OGBL and LCGB unions protested against the uncertain situation for over 200 Liberty Steel employees. Currently, around half of all staff are on partial unemployment.

GFG Alliance, Liberty Steel's parent company, is currently facing difficulties.

Liberty Steel took over the Dudelange site from Arcelor Mittal after the latter was forced to close it two years ago in order to observe competition laws.
