The Independent Luxembourg Trade Union Confederation (OGBL) has demanded a pay increase of 5% across the board, in addition to reduced working hours for government employees. The union also seeks to abolish the current evaluation and performance system.
In terms of personnel representation, employees should be equated with civil servants and certain careers in the police force should be revalued.
The OGBL presented the Minister for the Civil Service, Marc Hansen, with their catalogue of demands this week.
In a statement, the OGBL union said they were disappointed the agreement would be negotiated behind closed doors with the CGFP, the union for the civil service.
They went on to say that thousands of employees within the public sector, including those employed by the CFL, the post office, municipal councils and more, would all depend on the outcome of the negotiations. For this reason, the OGBL argued they deserved to join discussions to negotiate on behalf of the entire public sector.
