Four cars and a lorry were involved in a pile-up on the A1 motorway between Howald Tunnel and the Croix de Gasperich, heading in the direction of Luxembourg City. The motorway was closed entirely, with vehicles deviated via the A3 junction and the Gluck roundabout. At the time of writing, lanes were blocked by heavy traffic as ambulances attended the scene.
Several people are said to have suffered severe injuries in the crash. On Friday afternoon, it was confirmed that one of the victims had passed away. Further details are not available.
Elsewhere, the CR101 was closed between Kopstal and Mamer due to a crash. The road has been barred to traffic and motorists are advised to avoid the area.
