Once the fire brigade arrived at the scene, the flames had already engulfed the entire roof of the building. The risk of nearby buildings catching fire was assessed to be extremely high at that moment.
It took until 2.00 p.m. to get the flames under control, and another couple of hours to fully extinguish all fires. One person suffered injuries when trying to enter the burning building.
A total of 60 firefighters from Wormeldange, Mertert, Canach, Niederanven, Remich, Flaxweiler, and Junglinster were called to the scene.
Emergency services further report that an accident between two motorcyclists took place on Sunday afternoon. Both people were injured after colliding between Wiltz and Kautenbach.
Two further accidents each left one more person with injuries, one occurring between Flebour and Harlange-Poteau, the other near the "Käler Potto".
