In time-honoured tradition, Lydie Polfer, mayor of Luxembourg City, cut the ribbon to indicate the opening of the fair.
At the same time the ceremony was taking place, 50-odd Youth for Climate Luxembourg demonstrators assembled for a protest at the fair.
