This is approximately the same amount as the week before. However, the number of contacts these patients have had with other people has increased from 1,600 to 2,200. The average age of newly infected patients is 35 years. Between 24 and 30 August roughly 1,500 people were in quarantine due to the coronavirus. Around 540 were isolated. Those affected by isolation are confirmed to be ill, whereas quarantine is for those who have been in contact with an ill person who has coronavirus. Over the half of the newly infected cases were reported after these individuals returned to Luxembourg from their holidays.

Most of the infected residents live in the canton of Esch, followed by the capital and the surrounding region.

For the third week running, the Grand Duchy's numbers fall below 50 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, at 46 new cases per 100,000.
