Ministry of HealthPandemic contingency plan will be reviewed and updated

The pandemic contingency plan will be reviewed and updated with lessons learned from the current coronavirus pandemic.

However, it is still too early to draw the consequences of the current crisis, explained Minister of Health Paulette Lenert in her response to a wide-ranging parliamentary question from Jeff Engelen, MP for the Alternative Democratic Reform Party (adr). A certain hindsight is necessary for a definite assessment. According to Lenert, the world is now, at best, in the middle of the pandemic.

The minister explained that, above all, a future pandemic contingency plan would have to precisely define the role of the different actors as well as find a way to facilitate data exchange. These were some of the innovations mentioned.

However, there is no miracle recipe for all pandemics, according to Lenert. Rather, it is a question of being as well-prepared as possible in order to be able to react quickly and flexibly to a specific pandemic situation.
