The 10.40am TGV train from Paris to Luxembourg had to halt its journey this morning after a person was reported on the tracks in Champagne-Ardenne.

All rail traffic was held for more than half an hour before being deviated to the regular line.

Initially, SNCF announced a delay of 2.5 hours, but a passenger on board the train said they thought the deviation would take even longer, as train staff had announced the rails were impassable.

On Twitter, other passengers said they thought the person had committed suicide, jumping in front of the train. One user tweeted that they felt torn between feeling traumatised and feeling irritated at the 5 hour delay caused by the incident.

Further details are yet to be confirmed.
