On Monday evening, police received a report of an altercation between a man and a woman on Rue Sainte-Zithe in Luxembourg City's Gare district. A female passer-by noticed the dispute and helped the woman get away.
A confrontation then broke out between the man and the passer-by.
She, too, tried to flee, but the man gave chase, striking her several times before sexually assaulting her. The man only stopped when several other passers-by witnessed the incident.
He was apprehended by police at the scene and arrested on the orders of the public prosecutor's office.
