
Officers pulled over a car in Mamer at around 11.30 pm on Friday evening. The driver was intoxicated and turned out to be subject to two driving bans, one valid until 2033 and the other until 2036. On top of that, the driver was supposed to serve a prison sentence off six months. They were arrested on the orders of the public prosecutor's office and presented to an examining magistrate.
At around 10.40 pm, the police received reports of someone driving rather fast down route d'Echternach and the CR126. In addition to speeding, the driver also swerved into the oncoming traffic as well as the roadside ditch several times and ran down a traffic sign. Courageous witnesses had managed to take away the driver's car keys when the latter had stopped at a red light. It quickly turned out that the driver was heavily inebriated. Due to their behaviour towards the police officers, they had to spend the night at the police station.
Earlier that same evening, a driver had crashed their car on the CR356 near Waldbillig. Once again, a subsequent breathalyser test came back positive.
Another driver in Larochette stood out to police due to their erratic driving and was pulled over at around 2.30 am. The driver turned out to be intoxicated.
In the early hours of Saturday morning, police discovered a car parked in rue du Moulin in Schifflange. The lights of the car were still on and the engine was running. The vehicle's driver was found to be heavily inebriated.
A major police check was carried out at a gathering of car tuners in Kockelscheuer at around 8 pm. A total of 120 vehicles was checked. Police issued 20 fines and one penalty notice. Four people were ordered to bring their vehicle to the technical check due to a number of infractions. One driver had no driving licence and had their car seized.
