
The Luxembourg police have reported several burglaries and thefts across the country.
On Monday morning, a theft occurred at a petrol station on Route de Wasserbillig in Mertert. An individual is said to have gained access to a storage space. When the suspect attempted to leave the petrol station, they were confronted by a staff member and subsequently became physically aggressive. A third person managed to separate the two. The suspect was arrested on the orders of the public prosecutor's office and later appeared before an examining magistrate. The victim was taken to hospital for a check-up.
Later in the afternoon, police received reports of a shoplifting incident at a supermarket in Luxembourg City. According to preliminary information, a person had attempted to steal several products. Following a search by the despatched patrol, the suspect was apprehended and the stolen items were seized.
On Monday evening, police received reports of a burglary at a house on Rue Marcel Greischer in Christnach. The burglar had smashed a window to gain entry. When officers arrived at the scene and searched the home, the culprit was nowhere to be found. During the course of the investigation, however, the suspect was located and apprehended. A search revealed that the individual was carrying stolen objects. On the orders of the public prosecutor's office, the presumed burglar was arrested and appeared before an examining magistrate on Tuesday morning.
