Police officers were called out to 50 incidents across Luxembourg over the past 24 hours, mainly in response to night-time disturbances.

According to police, the situation had already calmed down in most cases by the time officers arrived at the scene. In some instances, police were able to resolve matters directly on site.

Altercations lead to temporary police custody

At around 9am on Saturday, police responded to reports of a dispute between two men at Luxembourg-Gare. Officers managed to calm the situation and persuaded both men to leave the station.

However, one of the men, who was intoxicated, began provoking and harassing the officers and refused to follow their instructions. As he was deemed a danger to himself and others, he was taken into temporary custody after a medical examination.

At approximately 5.30am on Sunday, police were called to Route de Luxembourg in Schieren following a confrontation involving three people. One individual was particularly agitated, displayed aggressive behaviour, and could not be calmed down. This person was also placed in temporary police custody after undergoing a medical assessment.

Driving licences revoked after drink-driving

Around 2am on Sunday, officers in Esch-sur-Alzette noticed a car swerving along Rue de Neudorf and repeatedly hitting the kerb. The driver failed a breathalyser test, resulting in the immediate withdrawal of their driving licence. The car was left at the scene.

An hour later, police encountered another intoxicated person driving in Esch-sur-Alzette. This individual also failed an alcohol test, received a driving ban, and had their vehicle immobilised.
