
The checks took place on the CR126 in Senningerberg between 9.00 and 10.00 pm, on Boulevard de Kockelscheuer in Luxembourg City and on Route de Luxembourg in Junglinster between 10.45 and 11.45 pm, on Rue de Beggen in Luxembourg City between 12.45 and 1.45 am, and finally in Route d’Arlon in the capital between 2.45 and 3.45 am.
A total of 335 drivers were stopped, out of which twelve were fined for being above the legal alcohol limit. In two cases, the driving licenses had to be revoked.
Around 9.00 pm on Saturday, the police were also alerted to a reckless driver in Marienthal. Upon checking the man, they found that he was above the legal alcohol limit and revoked his license.
In Differdange, officers encountered a man who was changing a tyre of his car. A quick check showed that the car lacked registration papers and that the man was already serving a driving ban. Additionally, he was also above the legal alcohol limit, which is why his license was revoked.
A drink driver was also responsible for an accident in Itzig, to which officers were alerted at 6.30 am on Sunday. When police arrived at the scene, the man was still sitting behind the wheel. His license was revoked after a positive alcohol test.
On Rue Glesener in Luxembourg City, a man wrongly stationed his vehicle on a spot reserved for the disabled. When officers attempted to fine the driver, he and his companion turned aggressive and began threatening the officers at the scene. At one point, they even attempted to recover their registration papers and climbed on top of the police car. After they also sought to hinder the towing service, the police fined them for civil disorder.
