Cross-border workersPolling shows people in favour of two days of remote work per week

RTL Today
Both residents and cross-border workers have shown overwhelming support for remote work since the beginning of the pandemic.

Our colleagues from RTL 5minutes recently conducted a survey on the growing popularity of remote work among the Grand Duchy's residents and those of the wider region.

The results indicate that despite the general effect of the corona crisis, people have begun to enjoy working more from home and spending less time in traffic. 85% were thus in favour of remote work, while only 9% remained opposed and 6% undecided.

Fortunately, the option of remote work will continue to be in place for many cross-border employees until 31 August.

After the accords between the Grand Duchy and its neighbours has come to an end, the formerly applied fiscal regulations will once more come into effect.

DP is adamant about implementing the option of remote work once a week in the future. French authorities have conveyed however that at this stage, they are not envisioning a further agreement. 75% of people that participated in the poll believe that the situation still needs to be improved in the future.

According to current agreements, German cross-border employees are only allowed to work from home once every three weeks, far from what DP envisions. According to the poll, 41% of concerned people believe that two days of remote work per week would be ideal.

The final question gathered information on the work situation of participants. More than two thirds are already officially allowed to work from home in some capacity.
