Social housingProgramme to build social housing passed by state council

RTL Today
The state council approved a programme to build social housing, which incorporates 537 projects and will build 11,000 units.

Following a parliamentary question by LSAP MP Mars di Bartolomeo, Minister for Housing Sam Tanson provided further details on the programme.

In nearly half of cases, those in charge of projects are local municipalities. The Housing Fund (Fonds du Logement) is responsible for a third of projects and the SNHBM (National Affordable Housing Company) is in charge of 10%. A further 11% of projects are being introduced by various associations, foundations, and the Church Fund.

Private promoters make up 1.3% of those in charge of projects and the Cité Syrdall Fund is in charge of 0.2%.

As the projects are all in the initial phases, Tanson confirmed that it is difficult to estimate how high government subsidies will be. She did however cite the credits voted in the provisional budget of 2018, which attributes €37 million to the Housing Fund, €31 million to municipalities, and €28.4 million to the SNHBM.
