Given that people tend to use public transport significantly less during the summer holidays, the CLF makes use of the opportunity to expand the current railway network. By September, the construction should be completed and help reduce potential delays.
Since mid-July, no trains connect the Gare with the north of the country or the Moselle region. Project manager Florent Puraye commented: "Northbound trains will run again as of 15 September, while those in the direction of Wasserbillig will not operate before 12 December."

The train station in the Gare district will receive two new platforms, as well as new rails. The idea is to ultimately award every major train line a specific platform, which would help reduce delays and increase flexibility.
Similarly, construction work on the new flyover is progressing at the moment. The project is expected to be done by 13 September, while maintenance work in the northbound tunnel is still in its early stages. "We are currently laying the new rails, which is done with the help of specific cranes", Puraye further conveyed.
While this year's construction and maintenance work focuses on northbound directions, next summer will see similar work done in the southbound areas.
