On Wednesday, Kox met with MPs on the Housing Commission for a video conference. On the agenda was the impact of the health crisis on the housing situation in Luxembourg. On the Chamber of Deputies website, Kox wrote he did not want landlords to experience a transfer by default due to waiving tenants' rents. In many cases, proprietors purchased their rental properties with a loan, which they are required to repay. By forgoing rent payments, the domino effect could fall into place.
The government said they would prefer to offer financial aid to tenants who cannot pay their rent due to the health crisis and have therefore adapted their methods of allocated rent subsidies.
