Esch-sur-AlzetteResidents criticise construction site in Rue Mathias Koener

The renovation works are scheduled to last until August.

The pavement in the respective street is supposed to become narrower, while parking spots will be enlarged in size, which many locals now criticise.

Some have expressed fears that wheelchairs will no longer be able to use the pavement. Furthermore, problems are expected to occur if people with electric scooters continue to use the space that should be reserved to pedestrians.

The municipality of Esch-sur-Alzette has since emphasised that the construction project respects all official regulations.

In October last year, city officials organised an information meeting to provide local residents with details around the renovation work. During that meeting, locals were also informed that they could always address workers on site should any problems arise.
