The city centre's commercial offering is falling, and officials have taken note. To counteract the drop, not helped by the numerous amount of building and roadworks in place, the City of Luxembourg has opened two retail locations of 45m2, in the pedestrian zone of Rue Philippe II, which are open for applications.

These temporary pop up stores will be priced at low rents of €650, €1,250 or €2,250 per month depending on the length of the lease, which will be between one and six months, and the situation of the business which settles there.

Clothing, jewellery, art or fashion boutiques will be prioritised. On Wedneaday, alderman Serge Wilmes said they were looking for concrete ideas from young entrepreneurs. Larger businesses could eventually take advantage of the space, but rent would be higher and they are not currently priorities.

An open day will be organised for 5 October, to allow candidates to view the spaces.
