When the police wanted to check the vehicle, the motorist suddenly accelerated and sped right towards one of the officers, who managed to jump out of the way at the last second.
The officers immediately got into their own car and a car chase ensued. During the pursuit, the fugitive driver damaged a parked vehicle and hit a police officer on a motorbike. The latter fell of their bike and was slightly injured.
In order to stop the driver, the police decided to block his path with another patrol by placing a police car on the road near the N31. However, the motorist still refused to stop and once again sped towards the officers. The driver also ignored several warnings and two targeted gunshots to the car’s wheelhouse. The driver continued on their way and hit the police car. After this, the car finally came to a stop a few metres down the road due to the significant amount of damage it had sustained.
The motorist was arrested on the orders of the public prosecutor’s office and will be presented to an examining magistrate on Tuesday.
