Rotarex in Lintgen is one of the companies which has become particularly busy due to the health crisis, as it produces the valves for ventilators.

In order to meet the growing demand, director general Jean-Claude Schmitz explained the company had been forced to call upon voluntary reinforcements, particularly for night shifts. He expressed his gratitude for the commitment shown by staff members who immediately returned, despite long shifts including weekends.

So far, no cases of Covid-19 have been identified at Rotarex, but security measures have been put in place, according to finance director, Bruno Lavalle. Masks were distributed among the staff, production lines have been spread apart to reduce contact and staff members are adhering to social distancing measures. The site is regularly disinfected between shifts.

However, Schmitz said the company was facing logistical challenges, with increasing orders and longer delivery times for equipment. He said they were in constant contact with suppliers to expedite deliveries.

The shipping of products to the United States has also been problematic due to the limited number of vessels in circulation
