Within a month that covered the period from 20 June to 19 July, police conducted close to 2,600 routine checks of motorcyclists, noting almost 600 traffic infringements.
Out of these violations, 85 were speeding-related. In 60 cases, bikers tried to illegally pass a traffic jam, while around 30 incidents were related to a lack of proper safety equipment, including helmets and lights. Police also determined 80 cases of noise violations and 72 bikers driving without reflective safety vests.
"Motorcyclists are among the most vulnerable drivers on our roads", the police emphasised in their statement.
Controls will therefore continue to be executed routinely during the entire holiday period, the authorities further announced.
