A police patrol in Ettelbruck were involved in a brief chase at around 1am on Thursday morning after a motorist sped up when he noticed the police vehicle. Officers caught up with the driver down a dead end, where a check revealed he was driving despite high alcohol consumption and without possession of a driver's licence. A driving ban was issued and both the driver and the car's owner, who had given permission for it to be used, were fined.

Officers on the CR175 in Käerjeng were in the process of securing a site where a previous accident had taken place not long after midnight, when they were made aware of a speeding car nearby. When they stopped the car, they noticed a strong smell of cannabis, and performed a vehicle search which turned up several grams of hashish and other drug paraphernalia. The driver's drug test was also positive, and he was taken to hospital for a check-up as well as being fined.

Shortly after midnight, police in the capital followed a speeding vehicle on Rue d'Anvers until it stopped suddenly on Boulevard Charles Marx. It transpired the driver had fallen asleep at the wheel, and woke only after the police banged on the car's windows. After a positive alcohol test, police confiscated the driver's licence and issued a provisional driving ban.

Early on Thursday morning, a vehicle came off the road in Dudelange, crashing into a hedge on Rue de Centenaire. The driver, who was uninjured, smelled strongly of alcohol. Officers confiscated his licence and issued a provisional driving ban.
