PoliceShoplifting on the rise in Luxembourg

Police have reported a number of thefts taking place in shops across the nation in recent weeks.

One incident in Luxembourg City saw a shoplifter caught in the act as he attempted to steal two jackets, while on Grand Rue, another suspect was found concealing an expensive purse as he tried to exit a shop.

In Käerjeng, a person was caught taking batteries out of a torch, while other thefts were reported on Rue Chimay in the capital, in Differdange, and in Oberkorn.

On Sunday police also issued a warning asking people to be vigilant of scammers posing as charity employees in order to fraudulently obtain donations.

Suspicious activity should be reported to 113.
