Last Thursday, Luxembourg's renowned St George’s International School celebrated its 35th anniversary with the inauguration of a new sports facility, named after Luxembourg's cyclist Elsy Jacobs.

The ceremony welcomed a range of distinguished guests, including Martine Molitor, First Government Advisor at the Ministry of Education, Children and Youth. Also in attendance were representatives from the British Embassy Luxembourg, the Ville de Luxembourg, and the Municipality of Garnich, alongside Luxembourg’s renowned cyclist, Christine Majerus.

The new Elsy Jacobs sports facility represents a major investment in student well-being and development. Named after the first female road cycling world champion in 1958, the facility honours her lasting legacy in Luxembourg and beyond.

Principal Zeba Clarke looked back on the school's development: "Over the past 35 years, St George's has grown into a vibrant and inclusive community. We are proud to support families from around the world and to contribute to Luxembourg’s international outlook. What makes our school truly special is not only our academic success, but the sense of belonging and wellbeing experienced by our students every day."

This highlights St George’s International School's enduring commitment to excellence, its strong international community, and its continued contribution to Luxembourg’s global outlook.

Founded in 1990 to serve international families, St George's has become an important part of supporting Luxembourg’s international children and teenagers. Today, the school educates around 850 students from 73 different nationalities and was recently recognised as one of the world's top 100 private schools by Spear's.
