Guardian glass manufacturerStaff protest against layoffs

RTL Today
Guardian is among the first firms that fall prey to the virus crisis. The glass manufacturer is closing one of its two production sites in Luxembourg.

Last month, Luxembourg-based glass manufacturer Guardian announced the fusion of its Dudelange and Bascharage production sites. 450 employees are affected by this step. This Wednesday marked the first day the glass manufacturer started to dismantle its Dudelange furnace. It was in this context that trade union OGBL organised a picket line in front of the production site. Numerous employees joined the protest.

According to OGB's deputy general secretary Alain Rolling, the end of the furnace could be synonymous with the end of countless jobs. The trade union therefore decided to take a stand against the closure. The union still awaits answers from the company's management boards regarding the future of employees and investments.

OGBL will organise another protest in front of the factory in 8 days.
