The Chamber of Employees also expressed its concern over the fact that the budget does not address the increase in energy prices. The state aids for low-income households ranging from €200 to a maximum of €400 are not enough to “defuse” the situation, according to the Chamber’s director, Sylvain Hoffmann.

The Chamber of Employees’ demands include a guarantee that eligible households will continue to be supplied with energy, even if they do not pay the bill, or that energy prices are temporarily frozen at a reasonable level.
The Chamber also demands significant increases for all social benefits, including the social inclusion income (REVIS), minimum wage, and the cost-of-living benefit.

To this end, the Chamber of Employees calls on the government to invest all the profits from the CO2 tax in social measures.

All tax tables must urgently be adjusted to account for inflation, Hoffmann stressed, pointing out that the tax burden increases for medium incomes if the tables are not adjusted. However, this should go hand in hand with an adaption of pre-tax deductions, according to Hoffmann.
