A sharp rebound in consumer prices in Luxembourg is on the cards, with indexation expected by the end of this year.
According to a statement published by STATEC on Wednesday, this development is mainly due to the fuel price increase. The next wage indexation is nevertheless still expected to take place towards the end of the year.
Overall, STATEC expects an inflation of 2.2% for 2021.
Indexation is likely to be triggered in the last quarter of 2021, regardless of how the markets have evolved by then, said Statec.
The rebound in prices is predicted to be "temporary" , before a return to more usual values of 1.7% in 2022.
