The draft bill seeks to introduce a mandate, which will require that children are eventually informed of the identity of their biological parents in case of adoptions or in vitro fertilisation. CSV president Frank Engel took to Facebook to communicate his thoughts on the issue, openly criticising the phrasing of, and intention behind the regulatory document.
However, Engel appears to again have again spoken out on an important issue before consulting with his party colleagues about CSV's position on the matter. Party leader Martine Hansen underlined in an interview that they absolutely wanted to avoid any kind of polemic around such a delicate issue: "Many questions remain open at this stage, the draft bill is still in its first phase. We will now conduct an extensive analysis of the document over the next week, and establish a factsheet with all our pertinent questions and positions. We understand that it is a very important project, and we want to make sure that we give it the attention it deserves."
Hansen thus believes that her colleague should have refrained from putting out a premature statement, and underlined that he did in no way represent CSV's position with his Facebook post. When asked about Engel's future role in the party, Hansen chose not to comment.
