Weydert, who is currently a member of the municipal executive as well as Secretary General of the Christian Social People’s Party (CSV), will thus succeed her party colleague Romain Osweiler, who stepped down in May for personal reasons.
Councillor Tom Leonardy will be proposed as Weydert’s successor in the municipal executive.
Osweiler will continue to serve as mayor until both politicians have been sworn in. This is expected to be the case by early September.
