The Ministry of the Environment collaborated with the Water Management Administration to commission the survey, with the aim of identifying the population's water drinking habits.
Around 82% of residents drink tap water, 58% of whom drink it daily. This represents a stark increase compared to data gathered in 2006, when it was just 40% of residents and 28% daily.
44% of participants said they had been drinking tap water for the last 10 years. 78% of these said it was more environmentally friendly, while 51% said it was more practical. 47% of residents revealed they chose to drink tap water for the quality.
Three quarters of residents said their tap water at home tasted good, while half said it tasted as good, if not better than bottled water.
Just 18% admitted to not drinking tap water, a drop compared to 60% of residents when asked in 2006. Reasons for their dislike of tap water included limescale, lack of trust, or taste.
