Taxi reformTaxis permitted to operate nationwide from 2022

RTL Today
Changes to taxi laws will include the abolition of geographical constraints, allowing taxis to serve the whole country.

This change dates back to the taxi reform of 2016 and was validated on Friday during the government council.

Although the amendment does not include a decrease in prices, other changes will include compulsory examinations for new taxi drivers, with the maximum age set at 70.

Rental cars with drivers will also be subjected to taxi laws, in comparison to the weaker regulations in place before. Rides in private vehicles must be booked in advance, although this is not the case for taxis.

The limitation on the number of licenses will also be abolished, as will the difference between normal licenses and those for zero-emission vehicles.

These rules will apply from 2022.
