HousingThe Left highly critical of second edition of Housing Pact

RTL Today
Opposition party déi Lénk have announced highly-critical findings after examining the Housing Pact 2.0, highlighting its lack of substance in addressing critical issues.

The party described the situation in Luxembourg as incessantly worsening. According to the Left, the housing situation in Luxembourg should really be described as a crisis. Gary Diederich concluded that the pact overwhelmingly lacks concrete measures.

The government must end its lax laissez-faire policies, the Left argue. Examining the issue of speculation, the party suggested taxing speculators in order to address the issue. If unsuccessful, the party believes the next step should be expropriating land.

The pact outlines providing municipalities with means to implement projects, but without these projects being mandatory. There are no sanctions for those municipalities who fail to be productive in offering affordable housing.
