In France, the winter sales have been delayed from 6 January to 20 January 2021, including the Lorraine region which will not fall in line with Luxembourg this season.
However, the Grand Duchy is yet to set a date for the start of the sales. On Wednesday, Lex Delles, the Minister for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises, told RTL 5Minutes that it was too early to make a decision as the pandemic evolution was too unpredictable.
On guichet.lu, the official start of the winter sales was to be 2 January 2021. However, the new restrictions introduced on 26 December to curb the virus spread mean that shops must be closed until 10 January at the earliest, in a fresh blow for the retail sector.
On 21 December, the government announced the winter sales would be rescheduled. Retailers must therefore wait for confirmation, while hoping that this time, perhaps the Grand Duchy will align itself with its neighbouring country.
