The justice administration announced on Monday that the trial for the murder of Ana Lopes, killed in January 2017, has been adjourned.
A large number of foreign witnesses and experts have yet to be heard, but this will not be possible given the stringent measures in place due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The victim's ex-partner is standing trial accused of her murder, and has been in court since last Tuesday.
Four of the sixteen scheduled hearings were held last week, but the trial is now on hold.
