The heatwave continues, with a red alert in place across Luxembourg for most of Tuesday.

There’s no respite from the heat today, with temperatures starting off at 27-29°C in the morning, rising as high as 36-38°C by the afternoon, dropping slightly to 25-27°C in the evening.

As a reminder, the elderly, vulnerable and small children are advised to be cautious in extreme heat, although the following tips apply to everyone:

  • Close shutters, curtains and windows during the day and ventilate at night;
  • Drink plenty of water regularly throughout the day (a minimum of 1.5 litres of water per day);
  • Avoid going outside during the hottest hours (11am to 9pm);
  • Cover your head when going out;
  • Wear light clothing;
  • Limit your physical activities.
