
At 8am on Friday morning a man was attacked on Route de Thionville in the capital following an argument involving several people. The victim was struck with an iron bar and a knife, suffering injuries to his upper body. He was taken to hospital for emergency surgery following treatment for stab wounds at the scene.
Initial reports suggest the victim is in a stable condition.
The suspected attacker was arrested on the spot by order of the public prosecutor's office. The weapons used in the attack were found at the scene of the crime and confiscated by police.
On Thursday evening, at around 5.40pm, a burglar was surprised in the act by one of the occupants of a house on Rue de Pontpierre.
One of the residents had heard suspicious noises and discovered the would-be thief in the bathroom. The suspect escaped through a broken window to the road, but police caught up with him in Reckange-sur-Mess.
The man was additionally identified as a suspect in a burglary in Tétange on 1 June. He was arrested following orders from the public prosecutor and brought before an investigating magistrate on Friday morning.
