According to reports, police were able to arrest two individuals in Rue du Moulin in Schifflange on 4:20 AM on Friday morning after they seemingly tried to break into a restaurant.

The culprits broke windows and doors to gain access to the restaurant and stole a number of valuables. Once on site, police immediately launched a search operation and were able to find two men in Rue des Acacias in Esch-sur-Alzette who could be connected to the break-in.

Upon a more thorough check of their car, police were able to find burgling equipment, gloves as well as the stolen valuables. The public prosecutor’s office had the men arrested and they were presented to an examining magistrate that same day. The stolen goods were returned to their owner.

Police also conducted 2 major alcohol checks: One on the N14 in Biwer, and another on the N1 in Roodt-sur-Syre. 194 drivers had to take a test in total and in 3 cases police had to issue a warning or a fine. One driver had his licence confiscated.

Two more drivers lost their licence during routine checks in Luxembourg City and Mersch respectively.

Further reports concerned a number of accidents. One driver crashed into a garage door in Rue des Remparts in Echternach and tried to escape to Steinheim. Once police were able to find the individual, they quickly discovered that he was intoxicated. The man had his licence confiscated on the spot.

A driver in Route d'Arlon in Strassen ignored the right of way while leaving Rue Reckendall and crashed into a bus. The driver of the car ended up wedged in his car but was still conscious once police arrived on site. Emergency services were able to free the man from his vehicle and he was taken into hospital after receiving treatment from an emergency doctor. Police reports that none of the passengers in the bus had been seriously injured in the accident.

A young driver failed to spot a pedestrian in Niedercorn and despite an emergency brake still hit her with his car. The emergency doctor treated the injured person and she was taken into hospital. Police and CGDIS report that she had seemingly not sustained any serious injuries.
