From 24 August to 11 September 2026, the US Embassy in Luxembourg will suspend in-person routine consular services due to renovations, but emergency assistance will remain available.

Routine passport and citizenship services that typically require an in-person appointment, such as applications for a new US passport or documentation of US citizenship, will not be available at the Luxembourg Embassy during the renovation window.

However, US citizens eligible for mail-in passport renewal can still submit their applications by post, eliminating the need for an in-person visit. Those not eligible for mail-in procedures must seek these routine services at another US embassy or consulate during the closure.

Interview-waived diplomatic and official visa applications will also continue to be processed. Routine visa and notarial services will not be available during the closure period.
