Teachers and unions have voiced their surprise over the recent announcement.

CSV tried addressing the issues in a parliamentary inquiry on Tuesday, but the response by Minister of Health Paulette Lenert seems to have left a number of questions open, most notably about the exact procedure of the partial quarantine.

Lenert conveyed that thus far, 93 teachers have been placed under partial quarantine since the beginning of the new year, meaning that they still continued teaching. This particular practice has not yet been introduced for any other job areas, she further explained. The ministry is however currently working to extend the option to other sectors.

In case of an isolated infection, teachers and pupils can therefore continue going to class, but have to isolate at home for the remainder of the time.

While the unions acknowledge that it is important to keep schools up and running as continuously as possible, they mainly criticise the ministry's modes of communication, or the lack thereof.
