On Wednesday, police received a report that personal items had been stolen from a van on Rue d'Audun in Esch-sur-Alzette. Unknown individuals had made off with backpacks and other belongings, including smartphones, a laptop, cash, and car keys, after the vehicle had been left unlocked during loading.
In the course of the investigation, three suspects were tracked down to a venue on Avenue de la Liberté in Luxembourg City. Two were apprehended after trying to flee, while a third managed to get away and is still being sought.
During the flight, the alleged culprits discarded the stolen items, which were later returned to their owners.
On Tuesday, at around 5pm, a suspect made off with cartons of cigarettes from a warehouse on Rue Op Rued in Erpeldange. He used a trolley to wheel several dozen cartons through a side door and off the premises.
A suspect has since been identified. An official report has been filed and the investigation is ongoing.
During Tuesday night, a shop on Avenue Grande-Duchesse Charlotte in Dudelange was broken into. The intruders, who had climbed in through a window, made off with cigarettes and cash.
On Wednesday evening, at around 7.45pm, a further break-in took place at a shop on Cité Kiämmel in Weiswampach. The intruder, who forced open a door, got away with cash from a till.
Official reports were filed and investigations launched in both cases.
