Météolux had issued a yellow alert until 7.59am on Saturday. It predicted snowfalls that could locally give a total of one to three centimetres in the south and three to six centimetres on the highest points in the north. Some flakes had already fallen on Friday morning, for example in Heiderscheid.
The weather radar showed a cold wave coming from Belgium and reaching the Grand Duchy. In the north-west of the country, in Perlé and Rambrouch among others, the roads were covered in snow early Friday evening.
