Starting with Luxembourg:

  • PM Xavier Bettel announced a state of emergency this afternoon. His speech covered everything from the new measures, the cost of the crisis, repatriation flights, and fines for those not complying with restrictions. You can read the full summary of the press conference here
  • The three newly-opened medical centres in Luxembourg City, Esch/Alzette and Ettelbruck are specifically open to patients with coronavirus symptoms. The aim of these medical centres is to avoid patients with coronavirus symptoms gathering in a general practitioner's waiting room, or entering an emergency department.
  • The Ministry of the Economy has advocated for social distancing in supermarkets. Current guidelines require members of the public to maintain a 2 metre distance from others. The Ministry recommended supermarkets monitor store entrances and limit the number of customers entering the store. Queues developed on Wednesday

And on to international developments:

  • Current figures: 214,010 cases, 8,727 deaths and 83,207 recoveries. Up-to-date figures are available for all countries here.

That's it for today's evening round-up. Thanks for tuning into our coverage, stay safe, and if you're feeling worried about the lockdown, here's a piece to cheer you up.
