German customs officers made a disturbing discovery during a routine check in Weil am Rhein, Baden-Württemberg, on 1 July. Authorities found 20 dead lambs on the backseat of a vehicle during the inspection.
The 41-year-old driver claimed the carcasses were destined for delivery to a local district store. However, customs officials from the Lörrach main office determined the transport violated multiple food safety regulations, including the use of an unsuitable vehicle for perishable goods transport.
Officers immediately seized the lamb carcasses, which were subsequently stored in a customs freezer before proper disposal.
