Luxembourg is set to experience a new heatwave roughly one month after the last episode of extreme temperatures. According to the latest forecasts from the national weather agency, temperatures will increase gradually over the week, with afternoon highs reaching between 29°C and 32°C on Monday and Tuesday. The hottest days are expected at the end of the week, with peaks of 36°C and even 37°C on Thursday and Friday.
While daytime temperatures are set to soar, Meteolux reports that nights should remain fairly cool, except for Friday night, when higher minimum temperatures are expected. Currently, only the south of the country is under a yellow heat alert, but this is expected to be upgraded as the week progresses. During a similar period of hot weather in early July, Meteolux issued a red alert for Luxembourg.
Authorities are once again advising the public to limit sun exposure during the hottest parts of the day, stay well hydrated, and avoid strenuous physical activity on the hottest days. In neighbouring France, numerous departments are already under orange heat alerts. Similar warnings are expected to be issued for Luxembourg around the middle of next week.
