Germany's annual Speed Week began on Monday, with authorities across the country intensifying speed enforcement efforts until Sunday. The campaign, often referred to as the "speed camera marathon", particularly targets speed violations within towns and villages. However, not all federal states are taking part; among Luxembourg’s neighbours, only Rhineland-Palatinate is participating, while Saarland has opted out of this year’s initiative.
Police in Rhineland-Palatinate have announced in advance where speed checks will take place. In addition to urban areas, officers will monitor sections of the motorway where speed limits apply.
