Few bands sound quite like The HU.
Formed in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, in 2016, the quartet have created their own musical genre, known as Hunnu Rock, combining traditional Mongolian instruments such as the horsehead fiddle with throat singing, pounding percussion and heavy guitar riffs.
It's a distinctive sound that has attracted a worldwide audience, with the band amassing nearly 900 million streams and taking their music to some of the world's biggest stages.
The HU's rise has been remarkable. Their music has featured in Netflix's One Piece and the video game Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, while Metallica personally invited them to record a version of "Through the Never" for The Metallica Blacklist.
They've also toured North America with Iron Maiden, performed at Glastonbury and shared festival lineups with artists including Elton John and St. Vincent.
In recognition of their cultural impact, The HU became the first rock band to receive UNESCO's Artist for Peace designation.
Despite their international success, the band have remained committed to singing entirely in Mongolian, using their music to introduce audiences around the world to their country's language, traditions and history.
Their upcoming album, HUN, promises to explore Mongolian mythology and folklore further, combining traditional chants and instrumentation with some of their heaviest material yet.
Joining The HU at Rockhal are SKÁLD, the French neofolk band whose music draws on Old Norse mythology, ancient poetry and traditional Nordic instruments.
Using fiddles, harps, lyres, horns and layered vocals, the group create atmospheric compositions that range from haunting chants to powerful, choir-like arrangements.
Their latest album, Ørlǫg, released in September, explores themes of fate, creation myths and the ancient Norse understanding of destiny.
It's a fitting pairing for The HU, bringing together two bands whose music draws heavily on cultural traditions and ancient storytelling, while creating something distinctly contemporary.
We've got tickets to give away to see The HU and SKÁLD live at Rockhal on Saturday, October 31st.
