As part of his Screentime show, Stephen ‘Steps’ Lowe, brings you a number of fresh looks at upcoming movie releases.

Backrooms

Directed by Kane Parsons, Backrooms is a surreal sci-fi horror inspired by the viral internet phenomenon of the same name.

Starring Chiwetel Ejiofor and Renate Reinsve, the film follows a therapist who ventures into a strange, endless dimension in search of a missing patient, a place where reality bends and something unknown lurks just out of sight.

Produced by A24, it brings the unsettling “liminal space” horror of the original series to the big screen.

The End Of Oak Street

Directed by J. J. Abrams, The End of Oak Street is a mystery-driven creature feature that begins in an ordinary suburban neighbourhood before everything unravels.

When strange occurrences start escalating on a quiet street, residents uncover a hidden threat tied to prehistoric creatures emerging into the modern world.

Blending Spielberg-style spectacle with intimate, character-led storytelling, the film builds from small-town unease into full-scale dinosaur chaos.

Supergirl

Part of DC’s new cinematic slate, Supergirl reintroduces Kara Zor-El in a more cosmic, emotionally complex story inspired by the comic series Woman of Tomorrow.

Set across space as well as Earth, the film explores a tougher, more hardened version of the character as she navigates loss, identity and justice.

With a fresh tone and scale, it aims to expand the DC Universe beyond its traditional superhero roots.
