Familiar – and yet novel in the most surprising ways – Nation of Language’s sound has the potential to tickle almost anybody. The Brooklynite indie trio presented themselves to the world with their 2020 debut, Introduction, Presence, showing off their knack for New Wave-y sounds.
The band have since gained something of a cult following for their nostalgia-tinged electro tunes, which can be both moody and uplifting, emotive and danceable.
Their most popular songs – Weak In Your Light, On Division St, or The Wall & I – all possess a hypnotic quality, capturing that musical sweet spot between late post-punk and early New Wave. Strong bass lines and noodly synths just go very well together.
Their latest album, Dance called Memory, proves as much. Released in 19 September, 2025, it features mellower, goth-adjacent songs like Silhouette as well as boppy, New Order-esque tracks like Inept Apollo.
Fans and prospective guests at den Atelier can thus expect and atmospherically nostalgic (or nostalgically atmospheric?) evening – as Nation of Language are uniquely talented at getting crowds moving. Tickets to their show on Wednesday, 17 June are now available!
