On Thursday evening, police were mobilised across the municipality of Differdange following a robbery in Niederkorn. Authorities confirmed shortly before 10pm that the robbery had taken place and that an undetermined number of suspects were being sought in the surrounding area.
Officers believed those responsible may have been travelling on foot and urged members of the public not to pick up hitchhikers, and to report any suspicious individuals immediately by calling 113.
Residents in the area reported seeing the police helicopter deployed overhead, something the police press office was initially unable to confirm, but subsequently verified. The helicopter was seen heading back towards Findel shortly before 11pm.
